Trial Advocacy
Following LSE’s success at the Dunelm Mock Trial, where our team (including one of our Presidents, Shray) secured victory against St Andrews in a competition judged by Lord Hughes, former Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, we are proud to launch our new Trial Advocacy Division.
This division is designed to equip aspiring advocates with the practical skills needed to excel in the courtroom. Members will receive structured training and hands-on workshops covering:
Cross-Examination – developing techniques to handle witnesses effectively.
Bail Applications – learning to construct persuasive submissions in urgent hearings.
Plea in Mitigation – mastering the art of presenting clients’ circumstances with clarity and impact.
The year’s training will culminate in a fully staged end-of-year mock trial.
For more information, please see our Information for SPARs. In addition, Further Info Sheets will be handed out after the Introduction to Advocacy Workshop, which will be given by a practising barrister.
This division is the perfect opportunity for students to refine their advocacy skills, gain confidence, and experience the realities of trial practice in a supportive and fun environment.
